Story
Once, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu argued about who was the supreme deity. To end the debate, Lord Shiva appeared as an endless pillar of fire, challenging both to find its beginning and end.
Brahma traveled upward and Vishnu downward, but neither could find the limits of the pillar. Realizing the truth, Vishnu accepted Shiva’s infinity, while Brahma falsely claimed success.
Shiva revealed himself and declared that truth and humility are the highest virtues. This story signifies that Shiva is formless, infinite, and beyond human comprehension, and it established the worship of the Shiva Lingam.
